In the Padberg district of the town of Marsberg, Padberg Castle, a historic manor house, is located. It originated from a medieval castle seat and today is a simple structure in the Hochsauerland district.

History+

The origins of Padberg Castle lie in a former castle seat of the Lords of Padberg. In 1677, ownership transferred to the von Stockhausen family. Alhard von Stockhausen initiated a new construction around 1800, which remained unfinished. In the mid-19th century, around 1850, a residential building was erected. The shell of the castle begun by Alhard von Stockhausen was demolished in 1874, and in the same year, a coach house was built. The current appearance of the castle is mainly shaped by the construction phases of 1890 and 1891.
