Parpan Castle

Parpan Castle, also known as «Schlössli», was constructed around 1550 by the Hartmannis family. Hartmann von Hartmannis served as Landammann of the Churwalden judicial community in 1584 and 1598, and as Landeshauptmann in Veltlin in 1593. Through the marriage of Paul Buol to Margaretha von Hartmannis, the estate came into the possession of the Buol family in 1603. Under their patronage, the castle underwent expansion until 1675, which gave it its current form with a cross-gable roof, an octagonal cupola turret, and a balcony. Since 1875, the castle has been owned by the Weber family from Chur, who restored it.
