Partenstein Castle

The first documented mention of Partenstein dates back to 1262, when the Bishop of Passau, Otto von Lonsdorf, pledged the property as a dowry for Kunigunde von Goldeck to Pilgrim von Tannberg. Later, the castle came into the possession of the Harrach family as a pledge, who also held the castle guard. After various administrators, including Peter der Urleinsberger, Partenstein was pledged to Engelbert den Gruber around 1400, but redeemed by Bishop Georg von Hohenlohe in 1421. Until 1489, the lordship was administered by further custodians before Oswald Hasler received it for loyal service for life, after which it reverted to Passau.
