Peseux Castle
In the canton of Neuchâtel, Peseux Castle is a Renaissance manor house that did not primarily serve military purposes. It is situated at an altitude of approximately 549 meters above sea level and today houses a winery and private apartments.
History+
The origins of Peseux Castle date back to the early 16th century. It was commissioned by Jean de Merveilleux, a nobleman from Swabia, state councillor, and ambassador to the French king. The exact construction period varies in historical sources between 1513 and 1538. Originally designed as a representative residence, the two-story building featured a hexagonal tower. In the mid-16th century, around 1574, the castle was expanded by Jean's son, with two additional towers shaping its current appearance. The structure underwent adaptations to contemporary living requirements, such as new windows, fireplaces, and room divisions.

Today, Peseux Castle serves as a winery and houses several apartments. The castle's cellars are used by an independent company for wine storage and production, while the upper floors are divided into private rental or owner-occupied apartments.
