In the municipality of Pettenbach in the Upper Austrian district of Kirchdorf an der Krems is Pettenbach Castle. It is currently used for cultural purposes.

History+

The origins of Pettenbach Castle date back to its initial ownership by the Counts of Lambach. Proprietors included Kremsmünster Abbey, the Margraves of Austria, and the Bishops of Passau. In the 13th century, the lords of nearby Seisenburg Castle took possession. In 1876, the municipality of Pettenbach acquired the then dilapidated small castle. Following renovation, it served as the municipal office until 1987, before finding a new purpose as a music school.
