In the village of Pfaffendorf in the Haßberge region, Bavaria, stands Pfaffendorf Castle, a three-winged Baroque castle. Originally built as a noble residence, it now serves as a youth welfare center.

History+

The von Stein zu Altenstein family had Pfaffendorf Castle built as their new residence starting in 1703, as they were forced to abandon their nearby ancestral castle Altenstein. This new construction replaced an older noble seat from the early 16th century. The property remained in the family's possession until 1875. After the extinction of the German line of the Stein family, the castle passed to Count Edmund von Linden and later to the Barons von Grunelius.
