Philippsburg Castle
The Philippsburg is a castle-like manor house in the Loga district of the East Frisian city of Leer.
Baron Philipp von Wedel had the Philippsburg built in 1730 as a pure residential building. Originally, the entire complex, except for the two-story center of the middle section with a curved gable, was single-story. In 1906, the house was raised by one floor by Botho Graf von Wedel. The gable was integrated into the building during this process. The von Wedel family also owned the Evenburg, located only a few hundred meters away.
The Philippsburg is privately owned. It now belongs to the family of the Counts von der Schulenburg through inheritance. The associated park is partly private, partly municipal. In the private part of the park, the event "Fairy Tales and Music in the Park" has been held every two years since 1996, organized by a nearby bookstore.

The Philippsburg is a three-wing complex open to the street, built in the style of Dutch Baroque. In the later raised central building, the gable of the original building is still visible, its roof dormer protruding beyond the mansard roof. The magnificent portal with a grand staircase flanked by stone lions in the central axis is decorated with a coat of arms.
