Pilsach Castle

The castle's origins likely date back to the Middle Ages, when it began as a water house and was later expanded into a box-shaped building with a hip roof. As early as the 12th century, a manorial seat existed in Pilsach, belonging to the Freie von Wolfenstein. The so-called "Lower Castle" was owned by the Senfft von Pilsach family from the 14th to the 17th century. After its destruction by Swedish troops in 1632, the castle was immediately rebuilt. In 1808, the moated castle passed to the von Grießenbeck family through marriage, remaining in their possession until 1863 before changing owners multiple times.
