Pitzelstätten Castle

The origins of Pitzelstätten date back to the Middle Ages, when it was a castle whose name probably goes back to its builder. A first documentary mention dates to 1311, when Henry of Carinthia granted income from Petzelsteten. In the 16th century, the fortress was converted into a castle. The farm building bears the year 1529, while the manor house was built in the second half of the 16th century. The Dietrichsteiner nobility had the noble seat designed. Later, Pitzelstätten was pledged to the Putz von Kirchheimeck family.
