Plausdorf Castle

The origins of the estate date back to 1463, when a mill and a farm were first mentioned in documents. The current mill probably originated in the mid-16th century. The manor house, a Renaissance building, was constructed in 1565. In 1571, Mainz enfeoffed Konrad von Schwalbach with the estate, who undertook expansions in the following years, documented by the year 1583 on the building. In 1618, ownership transferred to Melchior von Lehrbach. In the 18th century, specifically 1701 and 1728, the border between Mainz and Hesse ran directly through the estate, with the manor house located on Mainz territory. From 1756, the entire farm was on Mainz territory.
