Pöring Castle, a structure with Gothic origins, is located in the north of what is now Pitzling, a district of Landsberg am Lech. It underwent Neo-Gothic restoration in the 19th century.

History+

The origins of Pöring Castle date back to the 9th or 10th century, when it was built in the then village of Pöring. Initially, it was a fief of Wessobrunn Monastery before passing into the possession of the von Peringen family in the 14th century. From 1546 to 1694, the von Holdingen family resided in the castle. A 15th-century Marian statue, known as the “Mother of God on the Little Ship,” owned by the Holdingens, led to pilgrimages in Pöring from 1731 onwards.
