In the Bavarian village of Pörnbach stands the castle of the same name, a structure whose origins date back to the 16th century.

History+

The first documented mention of Pörnbach Castle dates back to 1558. A new construction of the estate took place in 1572 under Johann Georg von Schafhausen. The design of the residential building suggests an origin in the Renaissance style. In 1662, the castle passed into the possession of the comital Toerring family. Although the Toerrings no longer inhabited the castle from the mid-18th century, renovation and expansion measures were carried out in 1708.
