Pötzleinsdorf Castle

Originally known as the “Ricci’scher Freihof,” the estate once housed a textile business. After the abolition of monastic manorialism, Countess Philippina von Herberstein acquired the palace and the lordship of Pötzleinsdorf, which she held from 1762 to 1781, laying the foundation for the palace park during this time. In 1797, the park, and in 1801, the entire lordship, passed to the banker and wholesale merchant Johann Heinrich Geymüller. He commissioned Konrad A. Rosenthal to design the park as an English landscape garden, which included attractions such as a waterfall, a Swiss house, a temple, and the tomb of the poet Alxinger.
