Presteneck Castle, a moated castle from the Renaissance era, is located in northern Baden-Württemberg, in Stein am Kocher, a district of Neuenstadt am Kocher. It is surrounded by a moat.

History+

The origins of Presteneck Castle date back to the Middle Ages, when a castle presumably stood on this site. In 1335, the village of Stein and the castles Presteneck and zum Stein changed hands, being sold by the Lords of Weinsberg to Kurmainz. Subsequently, Presteneck passed as a fief to the Berlichingen family, followed by the Echter von Mespelbrunn and the Horneck von Hornberg. In 1549, Eberhard von Gemmingen zu Bürg acquired the estate.
