Prössdorf Castle is located in the village of Prössdorf, part of the town of Lucka in the Altenburger Land district of Thuringia, Germany. It originated as a manor house and was later transformed into a residential building, which is still inhabited today.

History+

The origins of the Prössdorf manor date back a long time, although the exact construction period and the first builders are unknown. In the 15th century, it was not an independent noble seat but served as an outwork for Breitenhain. In the 16th century, the estate changed hands several times, including the families von Bünau, von Minckwitz, and Zeumer. The current castle was built in the mid-18th century on the foundations of an older building.
