Quint Castle (Treves)

The Quinter Castle in the Trier district of Quint was presumably built in 1760 by Franz von Pidoll according to plans by Johannes Seiz with sculptural decoration by Ferdinand Tietz. It was intended as an administrative and residential building for the Quint Ironworks, an ironworks with a foundry established in 1683. The building, which was already in a state of severe disrepair when the ironworks ceased operations in 1972, was extensively renovated in 1984/86.
The park was redesigned into an English garden in the 19th century. The Gothic-style iron grilles were added in 1825.
