A castle was already documented at this site by 1468, and its predecessor burned down in 1694. Raakow Castle was built in the second half of the 18th century for the von Loeben family. After several changes of ownership, the estate came into the possession of the von Wartensleben family in 1866. At the end of the 19th century, the manor house underwent renovations, with a north and a south wing being added. After World War II, the von Wartensleben family was dispossessed during the land reform in the Soviet occupation zone. The castle was initially used by the Red Cross and later by the Free German Youth as a district school until the fall of the Berlin Wall.
