A historic estate in Lower Austria is Raan Castle. Originally built as a manor farm, it was later transformed into a castle-like complex and remains in private ownership today near Schönberg am Kamp.

History+

The first documented mention of Raan dates back to 1391. In the 15th century, a manor farm likely existed on this site. Around 1580, a transformation took place when the Lords of Puchberg expanded the property into a castle-like structure with associated outbuildings. In 1622, the estate changed hands and was acquired by Vinzenz Muschinger, who also owned the lordships of Horn and Rosenburg at the time.
