Geschichte+

Raan was first mentioned in 1391 as Ran. In the 15th century, a manor house likely existed in Raan, which was converted around 1580 by the Lords of Puchberg into a castle-like complex with outbuildings. In 1622, Vinzenz Muschinger, who also owned the lordships of Horn and Rosenburg, acquired the village and Raan Castle. In 1681, Raan came into the possession of the Hoyos-Sprinzenstein family, who still own the preserved remains of the castle today and use it as a forester's lodge.
