The castle was built around 1600 by the Princes of Hohenberg into its present form. The formerly large rooms are now divided into apartments and offices. Emperor Maximilian particularly liked to stay in this imperial hunting lodge during the hunt "... Redmeregg is a pleasant hunt, there are always good deer".
