Radolfshausen Castle

The origins of Radolfshausen date back to the late 14th century, when an outwork was first mentioned in a document. This property came into the possession of the Lords of Plesse in 1437, who expanded it into a moated castle in 1508. During the Thirty Years' War, the main building of the castle suffered severe damage. In the 18th century, an administrative building was erected on the same site, serving as the seat of the Radolfshausen administrative district until 1859, before later being used as a forestry office. Many ancillary buildings, including the prison and the brewery, were demolished after the dissolution of the district.
