As early as 1287, there was a manor in Ragewitz, which later became a knight's estate. In the 15th century, the estate came into the possession of the von Schleinitz family, who remained in Ragewitz until 1622. The castle garden is one of the oldest in Saxony. It was laid out as early as 1520.
