In the municipality of Rain, Rain Castle combines the traces of a medieval fortress with later alterations.

History+

The origins of Rain Castle lie in a medieval castle. In 1542, this complex underwent an expansion in the Renaissance style. Another transformation took place around 1713. Of the former central keep, three wings, a corner tower, and a tall watchtower, which was altered in 1561, are still preserved today. In the outer bailey area, the locations of the former corner towers, which were later demolished, can still be identified. The castle chapel, built in 1712, served for a long time as the local parish church.
