Rain Castle

The town-defining castle shows the remains of the large medieval fortress. This was extended in 1542 in the Renaissance style and extensively altered around 1713. Three wings, a corner tower, and a high watchtower altered in 1561 are still preserved from the central keep. The outer bailey still reveals the position of the demolished corner towers; the castle chapel built in 1712 was used as the local church for a long time. The castle is partially accessible as a municipal administration and for other commercial uses (bank/restaurant).
