In the landscape of Hesse is Ramholz Castle, a Historicist building. The complex, which combines elements from various epochs, is an example of late 19th-century architecture.

History+

The origins of Ramholz Castle date back to 1167, when it was first mentioned as a manor house of the Steckelberg family. In 1482, the estate passed into the possession of the von Hutten family, who erected the so-called Old Castle as their residence in 1501. This part of the Hutten Castle is still preserved today and features characteristic stepped gables and a stair tower. From 1883, the property was acquired by the entrepreneurial Stumm family. Baron Hugo von Stumm commissioned the Munich architects Emanuel and Gabriel von Seidl with a new building between 1893 and 1896.
