Ramspau Castle

Around 1694, Count Johann Siegmund Anton Franz von Reisach, then chief administrator of the Electoral Bavarian market town of Regenstauf, acquired Ramspau Castle along with the associated village. After 1700, he had large parts of the old castle demolished and used the salvaged material for the construction of a new castle in the valley. A two-story baroque complex with a hip roof and four round corner towers, crowned by octagonal superstructures and onion domes, was created. The construction was completed around 1726. In 1803, the castle passed into the possession of the Barons of Pfetten. Since 1995, it has been owned by Wigbert Count von Ledebur-Wicheln and his wife Isabella, née Countess von Ingelheim genannt Echterin von und zu Mespelbrunn.
