History+

The first documented mention of Rastbach Castle dates back to 1159. In 1192, the property belonged to Hartwich von Lichteneck, before passing into the possession of Maximilian von Pollheim in 1594. Its current form as a two-story, three-wing complex with a south-facing open courtyard was established in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. Originally, the castle was fortress-like, connected to the Rastbach parish church, and featured a neck ditch.
