Rauenstein Castle

The listed Rauenstein Castle in Überlingen was built around the year 1900 by the Swiss privateer and retired cavalry captain Otto Ziesig. In 1950, the castle was acquired by the then district of Überlingen and, in the course of the district reform, passed to the Bodenseekreis. The entire Rauenstein Castle area housed, among other things, the Office for Fruit and Horticulture, the Agricultural College, and an external branch of the District Adult Education Center. After a fundamental renovation, Rauenstein Castle was used from September 2003 as a university academy by the Universities of Applied Sciences Biberach and Ravensburg-Weingarten, as well as by the Regierungspräsidium Tübingen. Currently, the Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce share the castle's premises. The circular path running south of the castle and a park area of approximately 2.68 hectares are freely accessible to the public.
