Rausdorf Castle

The origins of Rausdorf Castle date back to 1378, when the Großbockedra manor was first documented. Before World War II, it was owned by the Morgenstern family, who used it as a recreational retreat and summer residence for guests. In 1940, the family sold the estate to the State of Berlin. After 1945, Rausdorf Castle was taken over by the GDR administration and served initially as an orphanage, later as a special children's home. This use as a children's home continued even after reunification until 1997. The State of Berlin remained the owner until a new owner was found.
