Reichmannsdorf Castle

On the site of a Truchsess Castle destroyed by fire in 1642, Johann Dientzenhofer built a castle between 1714 and 1719 according to plans by his brother Leonhard for Wilhelm Philipp von Schrottenberg. It was designed as a three-winged complex over an artificially created lake, featuring a richly decorated facade, a high, mansard-divided roof, and a mighty armorial gable. The castle is still inhabited by the von Schrottenberg family.

The history of Schloss Weißenstein dates back to the Middle Ages. The first documented mention of a castle on this site dates from the 13th century. Over the centuries, the castle changed hands several times and was repeatedly rebuilt and expanded. The current Baroque castle was built in the early 18th century and is considered one of the most important Baroque buildings in Franconia.
