Reinach Castle

The first documented mention of Reinach Castle dates back to the 17th century. It emerged as a manor house next to a moated castle, which was partially destroyed during the Thirty Years' War and of which only the northern round tower remains today. The mention was in connection with the marriage of Hans Adam von Pforr and Maria Cleopha von Reinach. The latter donated the baptismal font of St. Stephan's Church in Munzingen in 1626, which bears the coats of arms of both families. After a second marriage, Maria Cleopha bequeathed her fortune to her nephew Beat Melchior von Reinach. Around 1750, the property came into the possession of the von Kageneck family, who owned it for about 250 years and shaped its agricultural use. A fire largely destroyed the manor house in 1870, leading to structural renovations. Until 1969, the estate was one of the largest agricultural operations in the region.
