In Grieskirchen, Upper Austria, Reinleiten Castle stands, which is now a hospital. Its history ranges from a farm to a noble residence.

History+

Originally, a farm stood on the site of today's Reinleiten Castle, whose owner was mentioned in 1592 as Röringer in der Leiten. The Pollheimer family of Parz later built the noble seat. In 1651, the castle changed hands when Count Adrian Ankevoirt sold it to Count David von Weißenwolff. In 1720, the castle was elevated to a noble residence. Under Emperor Franz Josef I, the building was converted into a hospital in 1912, which is now run by the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross and the Franciscan Sisters of Vöcklabruck.
