Reinsbronn Castle

The village of Reinsbronn was first mentioned in a document by the Teutonic Order in 1267. At the site of the current castle, there was originally a fortified house belonging to the Lords of Reinsbronn, who were vassals of the Hohenlohe-Brauneck family. In the mid-15th century, the lordship passed to the House of Brandenburg-Ansbach, which enfeoffed the Geyer von Giebelstadt family with Reinsbronn. In 1587, Philipp Geyer von Giebelstadt, a nephew of Florian Geyer, acquired the property for 23,000 guilders and introduced the Reformation around the same time. The current remains of the moated castle date back to his construction activities.
