In the Ribbeck district of Nauen in Havelland, Brandenburg, stands Ribbeck Castle, a Neo-Baroque plastered building. It gained fame through Theodor Fontane's poem about the Lord of Ribbeck, whose double-roofed house once stood here.

History+

At the site of the current castle, a single-story country house already existed between approximately 1822 and 1826, replacing an earlier estate. The year 1822 in Roman numerals on the south gable of the present building still commemorates this predecessor. Between 1893 and 1895, Hans Georg Henning von Ribbeck had the current castle erected on the foundations of earlier Ribbeck estates. It remained in the possession of the von Ribbeck family until their expropriation and expulsion in 1947, after which it passed to the Nauen district.
