Robinighof Castle

The Robinighof was first mentioned in 1648, shortly after Archbishop Paris Lodron initiated major drainage works in Schallmoos. The property originally belonged to the cathedral chapter. In 1744, Joseph Robinig acquired the estate. Six years later, in 1750, it was converted into a Rococo palace according to plans by court gardener Franz Anton Danreiter. Danreiter, who had also contributed to the Mirabell Garden, also laid out a park here. Around 1785, the iron merchant Georg Josef Robinig von Rottenfeld commissioned the installation of Neoclassical frescoes inside the castle. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a frequent guest in the house, as he was friends with the Robinig children Sigismund and Luise. A restoration of the property took place in 2007.
