In the Rommershausen district of Schwalmstadt, Hesse, stands Rommershausen Castle. This Renaissance complex, comprising three individual buildings, combines early Renaissance and late Gothic elements.

History+

The castle's origins date back to 1535, when Reichart Rinck acquired the former Haina monastery estate in Rommershausen. From 1539, he began constructing the castle complex. The wing from 1549 is attributed to a Renaissance sculptor from North Hesse. Philipp Soldan's initials can be found in the architectural ornamentation.
