In the Salztal valley, also known as Huttengrund, is Romsthal Castle, a manor house. The noble Hutten family resided here.

History+

The origins of the current Romsthal Castle lie in an official residence first mentioned as a castle in the 14th century. Little is known about the early history of this complex; it collapsed in 1783. The associated estate included a castle mill, mentioned in 1757, and a building referred to as a hunting lodge in 1765, which is presumably the present manor house. A door lintel bearing the Hutten family coat of arms and the year 1742 supports this conclusion.
