Roseck Castle

The origins of Roseck Castle likely date back to the Staufer period, when it was built by the Counts Palatine of Tübingen. Its first documented mention is in 1287, when Gottfried I, Count Palatine of Tübingen, was forced to surrender the fortress to King Rudolf. In the 14th century, ownership passed to the Lords of Ow and later to Burkhart von Hönstein, who sold the castle to Hinz von Hailfingen in 1408. The latter, in turn, sold it in 1410, along with the village of Jesingen, to Bebenhausen Monastery, which used the complex as an administrative seat and monastic care facility. After the monastery's dissolution in the 16th century, Roseck passed to the Dukes of Württemberg and later became a ducal domain.
