Rosenberg Castle

Rosenberg Castle was built in the late 16th century by the brothers Karl and Hans Rosenberger zu Rosenegg on a former vineyard. After the death of Hans Rosenberger in 1604, the estate passed to his three sons. Following various changes of ownership, including the Khuen family, the castle was sold to Joseph Anton Jud in 1617, after which major renovations followed. In 1762, Johann Michael Silberer acquired the castle and established a guesthouse there. Later, it served as an administrative seat for a mining college and from 1842 for the Imperial-Royal Chief Forestry Office. From 1867, it was owned by the Imperial-Royal Court Treasury and housed the district court until 1903.
