Rosenegg Castle (Kreuzlingen)

The oldest, southern part dates back to 1690. The house Zur Rosenegg was built between 1750 and 1784 by Johann Jakob Bächler (1733–1801) in the Neoclassical style. In 1885, the castle became the Egelshofen primary school. In addition to the primary school, it also housed the local museum (until 2006). The building is now called "Rosenegg". In 2006, it was taken over by the "Stiftung Museum Rosenegg" (Rosenegg Museum Foundation) and converted into a new local museum in 2006–07, now encompassing the entire building (renovation of the original stucco ceiling by Lorenz Schmid from Augsburg, depicting the four continents known at the time; redesign of the staircase and interior rooms). The museum hosts cultural-historical exhibitions of the Kreuzlingen region and features changing special exhibitions.
