Rossla Castle, a historic building in Saxony-Anhalt, is characterized by its square shape, a stone tower, and an inner courtyard. It served for a long time as the residence of a noble family and once housed cultural assets.

History+

The origins of Rossla Castle date back to 1341, when the Counts of Hohnstein transferred the castle to the Counts of Stolberg. Around 1420, the complex underwent its first transformations under Count Botho zu Stolberg the Elder. Originally surrounded by a moat, this was later filled in. In 1766, a major renovation of the then dilapidated castle took place, followed by the addition of the east wing in the Neoclassical style in 1826. Until its expropriation in 1945, Rossla Castle was the seat of the Princes of Stolberg-Rossla.
