Roßthal Castle

The origins of the estate date back to 1628, when the four-hide farm of Roßthal was elevated to a knight's estate and granted as a fief to an electoral chamberlain. The current castle was built in 1657 as a manor house for Alexander von Krahe. In 1736, the knight's estate passed into the possession of the von Nimptsch family. After damage in the Seven Years' War, the building was rebuilt and extended by Carl Siegmund von Nimptsch, with the tower being raised. A landscape park with design elements was also created. In 1852, Carl Friedrich August Krebs, Baron von Burgk, took over the Roßthal knight's estate. His family remained the owner until 1945.
