Rothschild Castle, also known as Hinterleiten Castle, is located in Reichenau an der Rax in Lower Austria. This impressive structure, built in the Neo-Louis XIII style, was once conceived for Nathaniel Meyer Baron von Rothschild and now serves as a venue for cultural events.

History+

Between 1884 and 1889, Rothschild Castle was constructed based on designs by Viennese architects Armand-Louis Bauqué and Albert Emilio Pio, commissioned by Nathaniel Meyer Baron von Rothschild. Originally, the complex, consisting of a staff wing and the main castle, was intended to surpass the nearby Wartholz Castle. Although the staff wing was completed and Rothschild occupied it from 1887, work on the main castle ceased in 1889.
