History+

The origins of Schloss Rüdenhausen lie in the 11th century. In the 13th century, a new building was constructed as a moated castle. The builders and still current owners are the Princes of Castell-Rüdenhausen. The family chronicle can be traced back to the year 1057. Even then, the family was resident in Lower Franconia. The castle was rebuilt several times over the centuries. The oldest parts still existing today are the two round towers and the substructure of the castle.
