In the years 1902/03, René von Boch-Galhau commissioned the Mainz architect Player, who had already designed the exhibition pavilion for Villeroy & Boch in Düsseldorf in 1901, with the plans for Saareck Castle. Initially, Saareck Castle was the residence of the René von Boch-Galhau family.
