Salzau Castle, a historic estate in Schleswig-Holstein, was once a cultural center of the state. Located in Fargau-Pratjau-Salzau, in the Plön district, the castle was a knight's seat.

History+

The origins of Salzau date back to the second half of the 13th century, when the knight Otto von Salzau was first mentioned in documents. In the 18th century, the estate passed into the possession of the Counts Blome and remained there until the 20th century. After 1945, it changed hands through inheritance to the Counts von Thun und Hohenstein.
