Schenkendorf Castle

Schenkendorf Palace is a neoclassical palace villa in the Schenkendorf district, part of the city of Mittenwalde, about 15 kilometers south of the Berlin city limits. It was built in 1896 on behalf of Rudolf Mosse. Rudolf Mosse was the founder and owner of the Mosse publishing house and the Berliner Tageblatt.

The palace villa is a two-story, yellow clinker and stucco building with a hipped gable roof in the Italian country house style and is located in the approximately 16-hectare natural park with twelve other buildings. The nature reserve park is home to blue, yellow, and white wood anemones.

Originally used by the Mosse family as a summer residence, the palace was a meeting place for intellectuals, politicians, and scientists, such as Georgy Vasilyevich Chicherin, until 1920.

The palace was expropriated by the National Socialists. During the GDR era, the NVA used the building. After reunification, it returned to the possession of the George L. Mosse family.
