Schermcke Castle, a historical structure with a long past, is located in the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Originally conceived as a fortress, it was transformed and expanded multiple times over the centuries, eventually taking on its current form as a castle. It tells a story of changing owners and diverse uses.

History+

The origins of the estate date back to the 12th century, when a castle was already mentioned at this site. In 1373, ownership transferred to the von der Asseburg family. At the beginning of the 16th century, specifically in 1511, a new, four-winged castle complex was constructed. In 1720, the castle became a Prussian domain. Around 1900, Ernst Wrede acquired the property and, in 1902, had a two-story castle built on the foundations of the old fortress.
