Schloss Schlachtegg, often known as the Rose Castle, is a two-story, two-winged complex situated in Gundelfingen an der Donau. Surrounded by a small park and a castle wall.

History+

The origins of the castle date back to the 16th century. Between 1533 and 1560, the north-south wing was constructed, characterized by its distinctive stepped gable. In the first half of the 17th century, the complex was expanded with the addition of the right-angled east-west wing. A renovation in 1999 revealed Gothic murals, suggesting that the former St. Michael cemetery chapel was integrated into the east-west wing. The castle frequently changed hands, including ownership by the noble Preysing-Lichtenegg family.
