Municipal offices

In the municipality of Schöftland in the Swiss canton of Aargau is Schöftland Castle, a late Gothic manor house. It today serves as the seat of the municipal administration.

History+

The origins of the current castle date back to the Middle Ages, when a tower stood on this site, but it was destroyed in the Sempach War. In 1660, Wolfgang von Mülinen commissioned the construction of the present castle. Just four years later, in 1664, Mülinen handed over the property to his son-in-law Johann Rudolf May. The May family sold the castle in 1840, after which it was used for a time as a cigar factory. Since 1917, the building has been owned by the municipality of Schöftland.
