Schrozberg Castle

Schrozberg Castle, also known as Schrotzburg, is a moated castle located at Krailshausener Straße 15 on the northeastern edge of the old town center of Schrozberg in the district of Schwäbisch Hall in Baden-Württemberg.
After the Schrozburg on the upper edge of the town was destroyed by the Rothenburgers in 1441, construction of the moated castle Schrozberg began on the Vorbach near the then village of Oberhausen and was completed in the 16th century. The rule over Schrozberg was divided. The lords of Schrozberg, Seldeneck, Adelsheim, Rothenburg, Hohenlohe, and Berlichingen alternately held dominion in Schrozberg. The west wing and the round corner tower were added in 1625, followed by the east wing in the 18th century.
The castle offers a three-winged complex with the so-called Old Building in the south and the Coat of Arms Tower in the inner courtyard, which is also called the Berlichingen Tower (it is said that Götz von Berlichingen spent several years of his youth in Schrozberg Castle). From the courtyard, which is open to the north, one enters the castle garden, which was laid out in style in 1701.
Today, the castle houses the city administration as well as the administrative and cultural center of Schrozberg. The ground floor of the Old Building serves cultural purposes such as exhibitions, theater performances, concerts, etc. Changing sculpture exhibitions can be seen in the inner courtyard.
