History+
The origins of today's Schweckhausen Castle date back to 1194, when a Benedictine monastery was founded on this site. In the 16th century, the von Spiegel family had the monastery demolished and erected a new building in the Weser Renaissance style in its place. This castle has since shaped the image of the town.
